Hello from Wichita - just wanted to brag on my dog that I have from you
- as Kady & I have just enjoyed another great hunting season - more
enjoyable as the bird populations are improved.

You may recall you passed Kady on to me after losing the first pup -
Aggie. My wife Lori has sent a Christmas card in the past & I wanted to follow up with this post-season note;

I have had several guys ask where did I get her as she is reaching the
good age with her skills & abilities. I think I will have a couple of
referrals for you within 5 years as their brittanies & shorthairs will
need to be replaced and they are very interested in getting one of yours
- with Kady as your best advertisement. A great "brag" story is the last quail she pointed yesterday to end the 2004 season:
She pointed a single in somewhat thin pasture shortly after a young
shorthair had just pointed one nearby and we had already flushed & shot.
As she held her point the shorthair ran in on her while the master was
yelling whoa - which the dog did not mind - the dog ran directly in
front of Kady twice (why the quail did not flush?) and Kady held her
point. The shorthair smelled around and left which looked like a false
point by Kady  - then the quail flushed - which I shot and she
retrieved. Then just to show off - the shorthair went on point & Kady
backed her, I was very proud..

While I did not find many quail this year - did get in on some good
pheasant hunts at Garden City area. Kady has been handling her pheasants both pointing & not flushing wild as well as retrieving well this year.  I hope to get her in on some good quail hunting next year - a couple of days where she finds quail all day will be great for her. She is close range which can be limiting at times. She has solid pointing & retrieving skills & she does not require handling while moving up on pheasants as many dogs need a lot of direction told to them - which I think spooks birds.
